For the land combat system of the future, which Germany and France are developing under the name Main Ground Combat System (MGCS), has presented its main armament concept.
Since high-intensity confrontations are expected to return in the coming decades, the MGCS and comparable systems will also require a large-caliber on-board cannon with kinetic ammunition as their main armament. As a result of a cooperative development, a new joint solution for Germany and France should also represent a competence contribution for the European defense industry (Defence Technological Industrial Base, DTIB).
