As Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced on April 22, the group was able to win an order from the Israeli office for production and procurement of the Israeli Ministry of Defense for tactical vehicles of the type Z-MAG. In addition to the vehicles for the Israeli armed forces, the contract will also include Z-MAGs for a foreign customer.

Z-MAG is an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) designed by the Zibar company from Israel. Zibar describes the vehicle as follows: The Z-Mag is a special adaptation of the Trooper variant to the needs of a special unit of the Israeli army. It combines a light but robust chassis with a powerful drive train and specially adapted chassis components, thus creating high payload capacities with high off-road mobility at the same time.

IAI recently acquired the rights to the Israeli family of Z off-road vehicles. The Israel Defense Forces and IAI's ELTA Group signed an agreement to manufacture and supply nine Z-MAG all-terrain vehicles to the IDF, with an option for 21 additional units.

“The Z-MAG vehicles developed in Israel have caused a stir in the local and global off-road vehicle community. The Z-MAG has an exceptional ability to move under the most extreme topographical conditions and in terrain. The Z-MAG vehicles purchased by the Department of Defense will have unique capabilities specifically designed to meet the needs of the IDF Special Forces, ”said IAI. After a test phase, the Israel Defense Force can consider purchasing more vehicles in the coming years. IAI is building a new assembly line for the Z-vehicles at the ELTA Land Division location in Be'er Sheba. To this end, 100 million ILS (approx. 25.5 million euros) are being invested in the project.

Yoav Turgeman, VP of IAI and CEO of ELTA, said, “IAI is proud to deliver the world's most advanced off-road vehicles, developed in Israel, to Israel's defense community. ELTA designs and manufactures a wide range of products for land use, including: surveillance, autonomous robotics, remote sensing and communication. By integrating these capabilities into the Z-vehicle family, our products offer added value for the possible uses of the armed forces, be it in defense, attacks or reconnaissance for internal security.
