German-Italian cooperation on combat vehicles

The Italian army is looking for a successor to the Dardo infantry fighting vehicle, which is showing its age after 40 years of use. The same applies to the Ariette main battle tank, which is not quite that old. The replacement must be planned for both vehicles. Italian industry does not seem to have any solutions that can be implemented in an acceptable time.
German-Italian discussions have been taking place at government level for some time to look for ways in which Italy can participate in European combat vehicle programs.
