The National Maritime Conference on May 10 and 11, 2021 will be held virtually due to the restrictions as a result of the pandemic. This has now been announced by the Federal Government's coordinator for the maritime industry, Norbert Brackmann MdB. He also sees a signal in this: With a purely virtual National Maritime Conference it will once again become clear "that the maritime economy has long been a high-tech industry apart from all the romanticism of the seafarers and feels just as at home in the digital world as it does on the oceans." He spanned an arc from the conference in 2019, which took place in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, to the one in 2021: “In 2019 in Friedrichshafen we showed that the maritime industry does not only take place on the coast but is at home throughout Germany. ” Now go into the digital world. " When I became the maritime coordinator, I never thought that I would be able to celebrate two premieres with the National Maritime Conference. " The conference will be conducted from a studio in Rostock in order to maintain the maritime flair. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the patron of NMK.digital.

The organizers of the world's leading trade fair for the maritime industry, the SMM, have just drawn a positive balance of the conference, which was held entirely digitally. During the four days of SMM DIGITAL, February 2-5, 2021, 7,000 spectators from 80 countries worldwide followed the event with 60 hours of program and more than 160 speakers.
