The Bundeswehr will receive a further 1,041 unprotected transport vehicles (UTF) in the 5 and 15 ton payload classes. The framework agreement concluded in 2017 between the Bundeswehr and the manufacturer for the delivery of the vehicles has now been expanded by 1,000 to 3,271 vehicles. This means that 1,401 trucks have now been called off, after a EUR 25 million and a EUR 100 million proposal had passed the parliamentary committees in the Bundestag at the end of last year. The unusual EUR 100 million proposal referred to procurements for which additional funds from the federal government's economic stimulus package are used.

From the original framework agreement with Rheinmetall, the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the German Armed Forces called off the remaining 292 trucks in the 5-ton payload category and 109 trucks in the 15-ton payload category. These 401 vehicles and other services have a value of 154 million euros. The vehicles are to be delivered by the end of 2021.

From the contract extension, all 1,000 trucks – 150 five-ton trucks and 850 fifteen-ton trucks – worth around 389 million euros were called off. These trucks, financed from the economic stimulus package, will be delivered between 2021 and the end of 2022.

The trucks from the HX 2 series are produced in the Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles plant in Vienna. Most of the essential components – engines, axles, transmissions and superstructures – come from German production.
