As part of a procurement program between the governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States (Foreign Military Sales, FMS), the training system for the crews of the P-3C Orion patrol aircraft is being renewed.
ESG Aerosystems als Generalunternehmer konzipiert die Ausbildung und entwickelt die Lehrpläne für die Besatzungsmitglieder auf den unterschiedlichen Positionen (Co-Pilot, Flugzeugkommandanten, Fluglehrer, Flugingenieure, Lehr-Flugingenieure) für die Anfangs- und Wiederholungsausbildung. MHD Rockland stellt die Flugzeuge und die Ausbildungsumgebung bereit. Mit dem Auftrag an die ESG im Wert von rund 54 Millionen Euro soll sowohl die Ausbildungseinrichtung Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity (NETSAFA) als auch Programmbüros und andere Interessenten unterstützt werden. Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland trägt die Kosten in voller Höhe.
After the closure of the VP-30 patrol squadron in Jacksonville, Florida, an adequate replacement was found nearby in MHD Rockland. MHD Rockland operates five P-3 aircraft from Keystone Heights, Florida Airport and is equipped to accommodate students for hands-on training. Training has already begun there with the support of ESG Aerosystems. The duration of the training program varies depending on the type of aircrew and includes both simulator and live flight training.
