General Atomics Europe GmbH, Dresden, intends to take over RUAG Aerospace Services GmbH in Oberpfaffenhofen. The takeover negotiations have evidently progressed so far that the transfer of ownership is expected to be completed this year. The final hurdle is the approval of the responsible authorities.

General Atomics Europe supports the technology group General Atomics in sales in Europe by taking on management tasks and carrying out work in selected areas. With the planned acquisition, the General Atomics Europe Group (GA-Europe) is expanding its product and service portfolio to include the maintenance and repair of business aircraft and military helicopters as well as the production and maintenance of the Dornier 228.

RUAG Aerospace Services is part of the newly founded RUAG International, which was created after the RUAG Group was restructured. The sale is another important step on the way to a strategic realignment.

General Atomics Europe intends to take over the roughly 450 RUAG Aerospace employees at the Oberpfaffenhofen site. With the bundled competencies of the two companies, a technology group with over 1,000 employees is created. As a result of the integration, the GA-Europe Group will in future be one of the few companies in Germany that has all approvals for the development, production and maintenance of civil aircraft.
