The Lithuanian armed forces will be equipped with the SFP9 SF paddle pistols by the end of 2021. The value of the supply contract concluded with Heckler & Koch amounts to 1.57 million euros and includes the training of personnel on the new weapon. In addition, an option for the delivery of additional pistols was agreed.

With the introduction of the SFP9 SF Paddle with the NATO standard caliber 9x19mm, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense wants to introduce a modern weapon that meets current military requirements on the one hand and to enforce a uniform caliber on the other. So far Austrian GLOCK 17, American COLT 1911 and Czech ČZ75 pistols with different calibers have been used. The existing pistols are to be stored as a reserve and only used in the event of bottlenecks.

The self-loading pistol with a preloaded fired pin lock (Striker Fired Pistol, SFP) is used as a police weapon in Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland and is also widespread in the civilian market in the USA.
