ES & T: What are the main tasks of the French-German Research Institute of Saint-Louis (ISL)?

Czirwitzy: ISL was founded as a binational institute by a treaty, which was signed in 1958 between Germany and France and ratified by the parliaments of the 1959th The ISL is operated by the German and French Ministry of Defense and is financed by both countries. The cooperation with industry via third contracts through which the ISL can provide its expertise and the use of research results. The object of the ISL is to perform it in a broad, specially adapted to defense and security issues area both basic as well as applied research to create demonstrators. So the institute works closely with end users with the armed forces of the two "carriers Nations" in use together is aligned so that the work on the current and foreseeable future needs.
