The second ship, “PNS Tabuk”, is scheduled to be delivered in May this year.

The 90 meter long and 2,300 ton displacing units can take a helicopter and drones on board. They also have two RHIBs of 11.5 and 6.5 meters and the ability to accommodate up to two standard containers. Further details about the electronic equipment and weaponry were not made public.

The construction shipyard is Damen-Galati, one of the largest production units of the Dutch Damen Group, which operates 35 shipbuilding and repair yards worldwide. Since becoming part of the family business in 1999, Damen Shipyards Galati has delivered more than 400 ships to customers around the world (including 29 naval vessels for 13 different countries, including NATO and EU members). The portfolio includes patrol vessels, offshore vessels, ferries, dredgers and barges, superyachts, naval vessels and tugs. Damen has two other branches in Romania, Damen Shipyards Mangalia, a joint venture with Romania (which holds 51 percent), and Marine Engineering Galati (MEGA).

On February 10th, Damen was able to record another success. The “ARM Reformador” (POLA-101) (Long Range Ocean Patrol (POLA)) was handed over to the Mexican Navy. The 107 meter long, 2570 ton displacement unit is based on the Damen Sigma 10514 design and is the tenth ship of its kind. According to company information, the Sigma design enables modular construction. For Mexico, two of the six modules were manufactured at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in the Netherlands, the remaining four modules at Astimar 20 in Salina Cruz by the Mexican production team, subcontractors and suppliers.
