For theClose and close range air defense (sub-project 1b in the qualified anti-aircraft defense) the Bundeswehr needs systems that can also be used effectively against small unmanned flying objects. In order to initially be able to cover the needs of VJTF 2023, the delivery of a quickly obtainable and sufficiently effective solution has now been commissioned. According to the tender, the drone defense systems are to be delivered within 24 months of the order being placed.

Germany is the first country to receive a C-UAS solution using the Protector as a kinetic effector to protect against the new threat of inexpensive small unmanned aerial vehicles (sUAS).
