It became apparent. Already on June 20 gave the Federal Government Coordinator for the maritime industry, Norbert Brack man, his expectations on the edge of the Maritime Parliamentary Evening of the Chamber of Commerce in Kiel expression: "The plan is to make a decision later this year." The day before yesterday tweeted the inspector of the navy:
Noch 2 Tage bis zur Abgabe der „best and final offers“ (BAFO) für das #MKS180. Danach muss eine schnelle Auswertung erfolgen. @deutschemarine wird das #BAAINBW dabei kräftig unterstützen. Wir brauchen die neuen Einheiten so dringend. #LandesundBündnisverteidigung @bundeswehrInfo

Not only for German Naval Yards as the last remaining competing German general contractor of this project is of great importance. In 2018, the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Defense had decided to set up a Europe-wide tender procedure for the construction - a novelty. Together with its partner, the Lürssen shipyard group (Bremen) belonging Blohm and Voss (Hamburg), the Dutch Damen Shipyards promotes responsible for the project. Ladies has told the ES & T also confirmed an offer to have submitted.
The European tender is the European politically correct, armor politically and economically controversial. From such order the whole range of naval vessels could benefit in Germany. The suppliers are not limited to the coastal countries but rich republic far to Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg.
The procurement of four multi-role combat ships 180 (MCS 180) is included in the federal budget with a total of 5.27 billion euros. For the financial year 2019 funds amounting to 195 million euros are estimated for the following years, a commitment authority in the amount of 5.075 billion euros is applied - an indication that the procurement can still take place this year. An option for two additional FMD 180, for which the Marine occurs is not yet included in the budget. No details are known from this revision of the federal budget in March of 2019.
Now it is hoped that the evaluation and procurement goes rapidly from equip. For the new incumbent in the Bendler Block, a first major challenge. Their approach may provide an initial basis for their future duties.

Background capability spectrum MKS 180
To the required capacity range of multipurpose warship MKS 180, the Marine writes:
The MKS 180 is explicitly designed for high-intensity, multi-dimensional naval warfare, strengthening the capabilities of territorial and alliance defense. The MKS 180 carries especially account of the objective of having naval warfare available that allow participation in all varieties of modern naval warfare. Thus, the MKS will be 180 suitable unlike the optimized on the edge of sea warfare systems such as Corvettes for oceanic and complex operations in remote sea areas and under harsh environmental conditions. The MKS 180 is equipped with on-board helicopters for submarine-hunting able, sea and land targets can fight, raise additional staff and equipment and thus also lead a multinational organization. By the MKS 180 special forces can also be used.
Precisely because the MKS is designed 180 for the high-intensity naval warfare, it may well succeed in stakes lower intensity for crisis and conflict management.
Overall, the MKS 180 exactly matches the required with the White Paper of the Federal Government refocusing on the national Alliance defense. In particular, the northern flank with the Iceland-Greenland Gap now requires greater attention again. Essentially, it is a question of keeping the transatlantic sea routes open and to support the offshore defense of Norway ally effective. For this, the MKS 180 can make an indispensable contribution of up to two years of standing time in the sea area and its assertiveness in the entire intensity spectrum.
