With the first meeting, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) constituted the weapon system partnership for the Boxer armored transport vehicle. Since 2013, the Boxer had been run as a project in partnership for land combat vehicles. The foundation of an independent weapon system partnership was initiated in 2018 by decision of the participating nation.

So far, more than 500 boxers in 14 variants are in action in three nations (Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania). The ongoing projects suggest that the number can increase by more than 2,000 vehicles and other nations (Australia, Slovenia and Great Britain) will introduce the Boxer.

The NSPA has been supporting the German and Dutch Boxer fleets in operation since 2013 and is considered a competence center for the core areas of life cycle management and integrated logistics support for these vehicles. In addition, the agency manages and maintains the central direct exchanges and national inventories and conducts brokerage activities for all current Boxer user nations.
