As the Nordkurier was the first to report, two Eurofighters from Laage Air Base (Tactical Air Force Squadron 73 "Steinhoff") collided in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania this afternoon. Nothing is currently known about possible victims.

All relevant updates are communicated by the Air Force via the official Twitter channel, among other things.

According to the Bundeswehr, both pilots used the ejection seat and are currently looking for the pilots. According to a dpa report, the crash of the two machines was observed by a pilot of a third machine. This is said to have informed the Luftwaffe about the collision that took place.

  • 15:21: A pilot was found alive, the second pilot is still being searched for.
  • 16:30: The police in Neubrandenburg reported the discovery of a body. It has not yet been confirmed that it is the pilot.
  • 17:40: The Luftwaffe confirmed that the second pilot could only be recovered dead.
